Every business needs email, files, calendars and a way to work together, and for most that decision comes down to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Both are mature, both are secure when configured properly, and both are sold as per-user monthly subscriptions with tiers that add features as you go up. The choice is less about which is good and more about which fits how your business and your market actually work.
Where Google Workspace is strong
Workspace is clean, fast and lives entirely in the browser. Gmail is familiar to almost everyone, real-time collaboration in Docs and Sheets is excellent, and there is very little to install or maintain. For young companies that live in a browser and rarely exchange complex documents, it is a genuinely good fit.
Where Microsoft 365 pulls ahead
- The full desktop Office apps: in Egypt and the Gulf, business still runs on Word and Excel files, and heavy spreadsheets or government and tender documents behave best in real Excel and Word.

- Arabic support: strong right-to-left handling across the desktop apps, which matters daily for bilingual documents.
The deciding questions
- Do your clients, suppliers or regulators exchange Word and Excel documents? If yes, native compatibility saves constant friction.
- Do you need managed devices, conditional access or compliance reporting now or soon?
- What does your team already know? Retraining costs are real on either side.
- Are you consolidating other tools? Teams and SharePoint often replace two or three separate subscriptions.
